Viva Las Vegas

When The Doc and I are travel planning, we have three basic categories: quick, close trips, mid-sized trips in the United States, and grand adventures. When we lived in Tampa Bay, our quick trip was to Orlando. In Atlanta, we escaped to Chattanooga. From Valdosta, we ventured to Savannah. Now that we are in Gilbert, Arizona, there is a 45-minute flight to fabulous Las Vegas! I love the quick trip.

Old School

Spencer and I are big time foodies and we love a fancy date night. We made reservations at Hugo's Cellar in the 4 Queens Casino. This is part of Fremont Street, so things can get a little sketchy if you stay too late, but inside the restaurant is all class and romance.

So many compliments on our coordinating outfits!

A red rose is given to all ladies upon entry. You had me at hello! The service is so friendly and perfectly timed. My favorite part of the meal was the bespoke salad service. A giant cart comes right to your table, and your salad is made tableside according to your wants.

It was way too much food. Next time we definitely split the entree.

Here Comes the Sun

When in Vegas, you can't just gamble or you will be broke with a quickness. We love Cirque du Soleil. This time we caught Love, The Beatles show, at The Mirage. As always, it was physically impressive and a little weird.

Desert Dessert

My husband has a sweet tooth, and we are always on the hunt for a sugary bite. After a blow out at Drybar in the Miracle Mile Shops (Planet Hollywood) we stumbled upon The Cereal Killerz Kitchen. It was just what we were looking for! I opted for the LeTaco James (strawberry ice cream in a waffle cone shaped taco plied with Fruity Pebbles) and Spencer ordered the Peanut Butter Lover (shake combined with vanilla ice cream and peanut butter and Reese’s Puffs cereal, topped with Reese’s Pieces, Reese’s Puffs Cereal, chocolate swirl, and a Reese’s cup). We only ate a few bites, and those few bites were fantastic.

Do it for The Gram

We had ordered Guy Fieri's Trash Can Nachos for our Super Bowl party of two this year. (Go Bucs!) They were so good we wanted them again. Located in The LINQ Hotel, Guy Fieri's Vegas Kitchen & Bar has a small menu with tasty bar food options. I saw this Bloody Mary on the way in (how could I miss it!?). We weren't really looking for drinks, but when you see something like this in Vegas, you are sort of obligated to order it.

Then, when you look like this, you know it is time to go home.

Do you have a go-to quick getaway near your home?
