I have always wanted to travel and see new things. I was never a big fan of traveling solo (don't be disappointed in me, Brave Single Gals) and I had limited opportunities PS (Pre-Spencer). When Spencer and I first met, we spent hours talking about the places we'd been and the locations we wanted to see someday. Medical school was tricky; then came the beast known as Residency. We were pretty much trapped in The ATL for three years; The Doc averaged one day off per week and the pay was pretty stingy.
Somehow, some way...we made it through.
Now Spencer has a schedule that gives him half of every month off.
So...we go!
We have been coming up with some systems and strategies to make our travel time more streamlined. It is definitely a learning process, but it gets more efficient each trip.
All of the Connections
I bought Spencer one of these BagSmart cases for Christmas. We have each been assigned different packing tasks; he has always been responsible for organizing the various chargers for all of our devices. Up until this bag, it was rubber bands and Ziplocs. We bought an extra set of every charger, now we just leave it fully packed and ready to go.
Travel Size Hoarder
I used to have many, many bags for my many, many beauty and toiletry products. I am slowly but surely finding travel sizes and putting them in a central location in the house. I am now saving all of my Sephora samples, advent calendar goodies (thanks Aunt Franky), and I raid every Target and Ulta that I visit. This drawer makes me feel weirdly happy and organized. I haven't been able to find everything I need, but I do sort of love the hunt for small items.
Cosmetic Case
When my younger brothers were in high school and college, they had a plethora of
on-the-road sports activities. My smart step mother always kept a toiletry bag packed at all times. I have stolen this idea. She bought me this sparkly purple case from Triforce and it has worked out perfectly.
It is roomy, the sides are hard (there is nothing worse than your entire suitcase being douched with perfume, lotion, or some other liquid), and it really keeps things organized.
Postcard Stamps
My mother in law, my dad, and my BF Stacy love to get postcards. I finally wised up and bought my own stamps.(We always buy ourselves postcards too. Any cool ideas on how to store these? If you give me a great idea, a nice post card my just be coming your way!)

I have had pretty good success with my hunt for good hair stylists on the road (see my post here) but I am constantly on the lookout for more travel hacks.
