My sweet husband and I have many travel goals. We have the day tripping, road trips, the quick flight, cross country, and overseas plans.
How truly blessed are we that Sedona, one of the most beautiful places I have ever seen with these peepers, is but a two hour drive from our new home in Arizona? (And the drive is gorgeous too!)
Very lucky, indeed.
The Great Outdoors
There is so much to do and see in Sedona. We played a quick round of golf at Canyon Mesa Country Club . I do mean quick. Monsoon season is upon us! We were in awe at nature's beauty at every hole.
We also went on a kayaking adventure with OAC Tours. The guides were super friendly, knowledgeable, and patient with *ahem* those of various skill sets. The only bummer? They took many photos of us actually on the Verde River, but we never got to see them due to technical issues. Luckily Spencer has a waterproof phone and we snapped a few ourselves.
I would also like to offer thanks to my fellow tour folks for not making fun of me when I slipped off the loading dock at the end of the two miles and ended up at the bottom of the river. Sheesh. This was way out of my comfort zone, but the views and the company made it all worth it.
The Great Spirit Quest
Sedona is filled with religion, meditation, healing, and guidance centers. There are believed to be vortex centers that promote energy conducive to self-healing and centering. We visited the Chapel of the Holy Cross, one of the most breathtaking churches I have ever been in.
Aura readings and tarot cards also abound, and we enjoyed doing both while walking around Uptown Sedona. When in Rome, do as the Romans do!
The Great Eats
If you know me, you know I am always hunting for great bites. The perfect thing about Sedona is that most restaurants offer amazing views. So, even if the food isn't the best, you can't complain because you are in the middle of magic.
The best bites of the week were at The Hudson. Spencer had a drool-worthy Bison Burger and I am still dreaming about the Grilled Portobello Mushroom Sandwich. It is so hard to find a decent veggie sandwich, this was one of the best.
The Great Romance
We are definitely a cheesy romantic couple. This place was perfectly geared for the likes of us. When you are in the presence of tremendous natural wonder, you celebrate that with a hug and a kiss. Maybe every five minutes or so.
Do you have a favorite getaway in your home state?
I think we just found ours.
