This trip may be defined by my ability to sing (and change the lyrics) of Deep in the Heart of Texas by the late great Gene Autry. Be glad that only my sweet husband has gets to hear my sweet songbird voice. This trip to San Antonio was the first of many trips in my role as a shameless tagalong. While The Doc attended a four-day board review course, we played tourists during his lunch times and after hours.
Dessert
The donuts from Iron Cactus Mexican Grill & Margarita Bar were next-level sweetness. These were some of the best donuts I have ever eaten (housemade sweet cream filling, powdered sugar, Kahlúa fudge sauce).
Drinks
Fancy and delicious in the bar at Silo Elevated Cuisine.
La Matrona- A gin cocktail with a sprig of lavender. Divine.
Inniskillin Ice Wine- A walk down memory lane, remembering our anniversary in Niagara Falls. Cheers!
Date Night
Our fourth date (and first New Year’s Eve) took place partly at the Chart House restaurant in Tampa. We were super sad when that place closed. Needless to say, we were beyond stoked when we found out that there is a CH atop the Tower of the Americas. I absolutely love a rotating restaurant so that I can get a complete view of a city. We ate here, went to a broadway show (An American in Paris) at the Majestic Theater, and strolled along the Riverwalk. A date night to remember, to be sure.
Breakfast
How have I not come across this magical goodness in all of my breakfast eating years?
Stuffed.
Pancakes.
The sausage is IN THE PANCAKE.
I tip a sparkly cowboy hat to you, Willy B.’s.
