A year ago, we took our last random trip to Atlantic Beach in Florida. We had no idea that we would still not be traveling a year later.
One year in, these are the things I miss the most.
Makeup
Lipstick is a huge part of my face game. I still wear it around the house, of course, but when I get all dolled up to go to say, the grocery store, I no longer wear anything on the bottom half of my face because it is beyond counterproductive.
Fam
The Doc and I are both close to our parents. I count his mother as one of my best friends. If my Dad, Step Mother, and Aunt weren't always checking in with me, I am not sure anyone else would. We have canceled so many trips with this generation of folks; I feel like we are really getting robbed of valuable time.
Gals
I miss my friends. Going out to a ladies lunch is seriously one of my very favorite things to do. My besties and I had also finally come to the point in our lives where we could afford to see each other more than once a year. I miss talking about books and clothes and diets and the World's Best Husband over a cocktail or a fancy salad.
The World
Some people dream of having kids, or owning a business, or running for office. The dream that my husband and I passionately share is travel. Dreaming of travel got us through medical school. Making fantasy itineraries kept our sanity intact throughout residency. We signed a contract with a schedule that permitted bi-monthly travel. We were finally living that dream.
I continue to stay busy, but a year later I am definitely starting to feel like that proverbial hamster on the wheel.
What are you longing for a year into this unprecedented time?
