NBA All-Star Game 2023

I have always loved basketball. Watching the All-Star Saturday night events has been a sports night favorite for me for as long as I can remember. My husband also grew up watching the NBA, so we shared the dream of someday being able to go to All Star Weekend. While procuring tickets was a nightmare. (NBA Experiences was absolutely terrible, do not use them if you are planning on going in the future) the event itself was fantastic. Bucket list check!

NBA Crossover Event

First up in Salt Lake City was this fun afternoon.

NBA Crossover is a multi-day interactive fan event that brings basketball culture to the forefront, featuring player appearances, live performances and unique activations focused on art, music, fashion, technology and entertainment!

We took pictures with the Larry O'Brien trophy, Spencer attempted a sky high shot, we ate cotton candy shaped like Baby Yoda, we peeped Jordan Clarkson, and we turned ourselves into dunking video game machines. It was a playground for bb lovers of the world.

Saturday Night

The Michael Jordan era dunks, my personal favorite Vince Carter, and the epic battle between Zach Lavine and Aaron Gordon are the legends Saturday night is built upon. I have also always loved the 3-Point Shootout. We were a little worried because the 2022 Dunks were snoozers. No need for worries, we were in for a treat! Mac McClung resuscitated the event, and every single time he stepped up to the court it was fire. Damian Lillard also made for an exciting night winning the 3-point contest whilst wearing a Big Sky (Weber State) jersey. All of my hoop dreams came true.

Sunday

Let's face facts...the actual All-Star Game itself is kind of lame. It was cool to see Giannis and LeBron (my current favorite and Spencer's all-time favorite) go head to head in a live draft (right in front of us!) for the first time.

The game has no meaning and therefore no one plays any defense or hustles at all. I love seeing the musical performances, the celebrities, and the hall of famers, but the game is not competitive.

Foodie Life

Of course we sampled some tasty bites from around Salt Lake City. I loved Cupbop (inside the stadium) so much I ate it both nights. Spencer's favorite was a ridiculous shake from Spilled Milk.

One of my favorite delis in the world is Siegfried's, I am so glad we dipped in there on Saturday.

Last but not least, if there is a Nacho Daddy in the vicinity, I will find it.

Do you have a sports bucket list? I still have Final 4 and Super Bowl dreams. For now I am just going to bask in an orange basketball hued glow for awhile.
