San Francisco

The City by The Bay is one of my all-time favorite places to visit. It is so unique; there are a multitude of cultures crammed into the most scenic and finite place. Also, my youngest brother Casey lives there. He is one of my favorite people in the world, any place where he resides would be the coolest. There was so much to do and so much to see, I am still catching up on my sleep, days later.

Fisherman's Wharf

Ah, to be a tourist. We have been to many tourist-y areas on our travels; FW has all of the cheesy goodness figured out to perfection. We started out by shopping (I found a 'Nikki' necklace, just like Carrie's from Sex and the City!) and then moved on to being entertained by the sea lions. As we walked along, The Doc ended up becoming part of a break dancing show. I laughed so hard I cried. He may have missed his true calling.

Next we jumped on a catamaran for a sunset cruise around The Bay. How wonderful to see all of the sights from a boat. It was cold AF, but warm coats and drinks were provided, so it was all good. I highly recommend this excursion we booked through Viator.

We ended the day at Chart House, a restaurant chain that we love. This location was especially scenic and the food was excellent.

Clam Chowder in a sourdough bread bowl, natch.

Play Ball

Pro Tip: Casey advised us to sit on the third base side, out of the wind. Stellar advice.

We got to town on Wednesday. Casey ended up having to travel for work during the week, so we decided to meet up for a Giants game on Friday night when he got back. The best laid plan was thwarted by a major plane delay, and I have never been more bummed. Spencer and Oracle Park managed to cheer me up.

An $18 crab sandwich and some bubbly to drown my brother-missing sorrows in.

The Giants got spanked, I bought a Longoria shirt, and most of the crowd was watching the Warriors/Rockets game on various devices.

Art Abounds

You can't walk down the street and not see a work of art, a gallery, or a museum.

We enjoyed The Beat Museum, SFMOMA, and the de Young. I always wished I could create art; I cannot, so I do the next best thing.

I appreciate.

Eats

Rock out with your guac out.

I miss living in a place with endless food options. San Francisco is one of the best foodie towns out there. We sampled Polynesian fusion at the Tonga Room, tried our first hot pot and yakiniku in Chinatown, ate a decadent French meal at our hotel before the magical Yann Tiersen concert, and chowed down on ceviche in The Mission.

Cauliflower Hoisin 'Wings'

Did we get a burrito or any Ghirardelli chocolate? No, we did not. The reason? You can't eat it all, or you will explode.

Of course the best thing about SF is Casey. I miss that guy more than I can express. Cali needs to be next to Georgia on the map.

Fear the beards

Do you have a favorite person that you love to visit that just happens to live in a cool-ass city?

May you be blessed with a sweetheart that pushes you up hills and carries your book haul.
